ART & TECH DAYS FESTIVAL 2022: CHANGE COMBINES ART AND TECHNOLOGY

2022-11-21 - 2022-11-27 Košice, Slovakia

ART & TECH DAYS FESTIVAL 2022: CHANGE COMBINES ART AND TECHNOLOGY

For the sixth time, the biggest media art festival Art & Tech Days 2022, will take place in Košice. From November 21 to 27, it will offer exhibitions, conferences, discussions, and workshops for all age groups and attract top speakers from the field of art and technology.

This profile event of the Košice – UNESCO Creative City of Media Art project brings together the art scene and the IT sector, two areas that have seen significant development in Košice in recent years.

THE THEME OF THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL WILL BE CHANGE

This year’s Art & Tech Conference will explore the theme of Change. It will offer the perspectives of world experts on the phenomenon of change triggered by technology, art, and design. Can human behavior be affected and triggered by technology, art, and design?

“We chose the theme Change for the Art & Tech Days 2022 festival because we perceive how rapidly our everyday reality changes under the influence of major events. Together with international experts, artists and designers, we will seek answers on how culture, design, and technology can contribute to understanding the world and its positive change. We believe that creativity, empathy, and the meaningful use of technology are part of such a process,” explained Michal Hladký, director of Creative Industry Košice.

THE CONFERENCE WILL HOST 7 TOP SPEAKERS

The conference invitation was accepted by seven speakers who will share their perspectives on the phenomenon of change.

Ambra Trotto is the director of design and research at the d.center, which explores the transformation of existing practices into sustainable ones – through design. Allan Littlefield has over 20 years of  professional experience in human development and coaching. Lisa Lang is a European entrepreneur and technological innovator. She is the founder of leading agencies in fashion tech, wearable technologies, and smart textile manufacturing. She was named Top 50 women in Tech by Forbes. In addition, Maurice Benayoun, a French innovator, contemporary new media artist, curator, and theorist working in Paris and Hong Kong, will speak at the conference. Martin Honzik, chief curator of the Ars Electronica festival in Linz, will discuss at the masterclass how data can feed artistic work and how it  can shape artistic thought and help us discover invisible aspects of our realities.

For cultural and creative professionals, but also for entrepreneurs, representatives of the third sector, public administration and the media, an exclusive workshop by Vik Maraj, leading Canadian neuro-linguist and group behavior expert, will discuss  how change can be facilitated by art and culture.

Exhibitions by several artists will take place throughout the festival. The art installation Wind of Košice is a site-specific work that turns the invisible wind patterns in and around Košice into a series of poetic data paintings within a digital canvas. By using a one-year data set collected from Košice, Refik Anadol Studios developed a series of custom software to read, analyze and visualize wind speed, direction, and gust patterns along with time and temperature at 20-second intervals throughout the year.

THE OPENING CEREMONY WILL OFFER AN UNFORGETTABLE MULTIMEDIAL PERFORMANCE

The official opening of the festival will be on 23 November at 20:00 in the Kunsthalle. It will feature the artistic groups – Rozi Makó, Nano vjs and sedemminut.
